Surat Thani Railway Station: Location & Transfer Guide
Surat Thani Railway Station is in the Phun Phin area, outside Surat Thani city centre. It is a useful Southern Line rail stop for the city, road connections to Phuket and transfers toward Gulf-island ferries. The railway station, airport, town bus offices and ferry piers are different locations.
Choose the correct pickup location

Copy the full pickup label, address and meeting instructions into your itinerary. “Surat Thani” alone is not enough to identify where a bus or van leaves. If a product offers several pickup options, make sure the confirmation shows the railway-station option you actually selected.
Arriving by train from Bangkok
Search your intended date and compare the train’s complete station pair, scheduled arrival and available classes. An overnight departure can arrive on the following calendar day, which must match the transfer booking. Keep the train number and arrival date available when asking a transfer operator about a connection.
Before leaving the carriage, collect all luggage and check the station name. Once on the platform, follow signs toward the public exit and use the operator’s written instructions to find your pickup. Check the identity of the vehicle or desk against the confirmation before handing over a voucher.
Onward to Koh Samui, Koh Phangan or Koh Tao
An island journey requires a road connection to a pier and a ferry. Depending on the operator and product, a combined transfer may begin at the station or elsewhere. Confirm the destination island, arrival pier, pickup point and check-in deadline as a single itinerary.
Train tickets do not automatically include these onward stages. Check whether the ferry operator accepts responsibility for a missed connection, whether a later sailing is possible and what happens if weather changes the service. Avoid a tight connection to the final sailing of the day unless you have a workable backup.
Onward to Phuket, the city or the airport
For Phuket, compare road services by departure point and final drop-off. A bus leaving Surat Thani Town requires a different plan from one that includes station pickup. Arriving at a Phuket bus terminal also leaves the local journey to your accommodation.
For a city hotel or the airport, arrange transport to the exact address or terminal. Verify the price, luggage allowance and whether the service is private or shared. A map’s estimated driving time is not a guarantee of airport check-in time, especially when it follows a long-distance train.
Waiting and return journeys
Carry water, essential medication, a charged phone and a saved copy of your tickets. Do not base your plan on an unverified promise of luggage storage, an overnight waiting area or a particular shop being open. Ask the station about facilities you need on the day.
When returning to Bangkok, give the road or ferry connection enough margin to reach the railway station before the train departs. A transfer to “Surat Thani Town” does not finish at the train station. Check the return direction separately rather than assuming the outbound pickup arrangement operates in reverse.
